Southeast Regional Aerial Drone Championship Comes to Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL — April 16–17 — The Southeast Regional Aerial Drone Competition (ADC) Championship is set to take flight at the The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), bringing together the top 100 middle and high school teams from across the Southeast for two days of high-energy competition.

This premier STEM event will showcase student teams as they compete in a series of fast-paced, skill-driven challenges that test precision, teamwork, and problem-solving. From piloting drones through complex courses to executing autonomous missions, students will demonstrate the skills they’ve developed throughout the season.

Spectators can expect an exciting atmosphere as teams battle it out in Teamwork Missions, Piloting Skills, and Coding Challenges, all while working collaboratively with alliance partners. The event highlights not only technical ability but also communication, strategy, and resilience under pressure.

Open to the Public

The community is invited to attend and experience the excitement firsthand. Whether you're a student, educator, parent, or STEM enthusiast, this is a unique opportunity to see cutting-edge drone technology in action and witness the next generation of innovators. Opportunity for Local Schools

In addition to the competition, this event offers a powerful opportunity for local schools to explore how they can get involved in the Aerial Drone Competition.

Through a partnership between Mazda and the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF), equipment grants are available to help schools in the Huntsville area launch new drone teams. Schools attending the event can learn how to access these resources and bring hands-on STEM programs to their students.

Representatives from RECF will be onsite to answer questions, share program details, and guide educators through the process of starting a team.

Building the Future of STEM

As one of the fastest-growing student programs in the country, the Aerial Drone Competition continues to expand opportunities for students to gain real-world skills in engineering, coding, aviation, and teamwork.

The Southeast Regional Championship is more than a competition. It’s a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the future of STEM.
