Request for 2026 Board of Directors Nominations

The AUVSI Pathfinder Chapter is looking for nominations for the following Board of Directors positions! Below are the responsibilities of the elected board /committee member. The term of service is two (2) years.

Education - In addition to the responsibilities prescribed by the Pathfinder Constitution and By-Laws, Education Board Member responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct a program to attract, compete, select and award grants to K-12 schools and education organizations supporting robotics and unmanned systems education and fostering science and technology education.

  • Conduct program to award scholarships annually to deserving students from local colleges (UA Huntsville; Calhoun Community College; and Drake State Technical College) in the area of robotics technology education (disciplines which support robotics and unmanned systems).

  • Organize K-12 schools to participate in the Annual Unmanned Systems Symposium – held by the Pathfinder Chapter.

  • Invite the Scholarship recipient(s) to attend and be recognized at the Annual Unmanned Systems Symposium’ Luncheon Program.

  • Maintain a contact list and grow awareness in the K-12 academic community, in addition to colleges and universities, about unmanned systems and robotics. Support education initiatives that foster awareness and education in technology, particularly as it pertains to robotics and unmanned systems.

Membership - In addition to the responsibilities prescribed by the Pathfinder Constitution and By-Laws, Membership Board Member responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintain membership roster. Request a membership list by zip code for communication (email) purposes from the Headquarters Membership staff coordinator.

  • Coordinate Membership Appreciation Events at least once a year.

  • Ensure membership applications are available at major events such as the annual symposium and the annual Warfighter Roundtable for prospective new members.

  • Coordinate with the Education Board to ensure grant recipients (teachers) join AUVSI.

Symposium - In addition to the responsibilities prescribed by the Pathfinder Constitution and By-Laws, Program Board Member responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop the theme and coordinate the agenda for the annual Pathfinder symposium. Ensure the theme is approved at least four months prior to symposium.

  • Identify target audience, objectives, and prospective guest speakers. Additional tasks include inviting speakers, coordinating relevant accommodations, and drafting thank you letters and/or sending thank you emails after the symposium.

  • Coordinate with the PM UAS and the Deputy PM to ensure receipt of input to the “Air Day” program agenda and suggested speakers.

  • Provide biographies for symposium speakers to the 1st VP who serves as Chairman at least a week in advance of the symposium.

  • Attempt to obtain a copy of each speaker’s presentation a minimum of three working days prior to the symposium, and provide it to the Webmaster for inclusion in the overall event presentation. Ensure with each speaker that their respective briefings are cleared for public release.

  • Participate in symposium committee meetings as required to ensure that they are up to date on agenda, speakers, etc. Support other symposium areas as needed.
