Congratulations to AUVSI Pathfinder Future City Special Award Winner!
The award sponsored by AUVSI was awarded to the team "Isulae de Hibiscus" for the best use of robotics and autonomy. Many cities incorporated drones, AI, and robotics in novel ways. Isulae de Hibiscus (from Decatur Middle School) went above and beyond by integrating AI and drones into their city in very symbiotic roles:
Robotic partners for Doctors
Drones for trash and litter collection for recycling
AI health monitoring and management of fisheries and robotic vertical farms
Public space safety monitoring with drones and humans
AI assisted teaching and prisoner rehabilitation, always with a human teacher involved
Isulae de Hibiscus emphasized the utility of autonomy AND the need for human involvement. They showed a mature understanding of technology improving life not replacing it. They also had a significant portion of their sustainable city design focused on rehabilitating prisoners to do high tech farming or to design and work with drones.
Isulae de Hibiscus also won 2nd place overall!
